Free games – PSP

The PSPgo has been criticized for its high price, but Sony is trying to attract consumers to the platform that aims to provide an unprecedented 10 games.

The games are worth more than $ 300 if purchased separately from the online PlayStation Store.

The PSP will cost $ 449 and has no floppy drive as the other models. Instead, all games must be downloaded from the PlayStation Store.

The unit has 16 GB of internal flash memory storage for games, as well as music, videos and photos. It is also smaller and lighter than other models.

When it debuted last October, the PSPgo came with Gran Turismo and buyers can download up to three games from a selection of 17 titles.

Promotion begins on or before June 10, although anyone who bought a PSPgo April 1 will qualify for the 10 games to download for free. The offer finishes on September 30.

The 10 games are:

Assassins Creed: Bloodlines
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Gran Turismo
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game
LittleBigPlanet
MotorStorm Arctic Edge
Need for Speed Shift
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Wipeout Pure
Conditions of the offer can be found at the official PlayStation website.

Sony has sold over 50 million PSPs from the first model was released in Japan in December 2004. But now finds it difficult to compete with the popular Nintendo DS and the new challenge Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad multimedia devices.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles later this month, Nintendo will introduce its new handheld console 3DS, and there has been speculation that Sony is preparing a successor to the PSP.

Does the 10 game offer make you tempted to buy a PSPgo?

Aims to give PSP a shot in the arm as E3 draws near – Sony

While Sony Move motion control devices for the PS3 is sure that his beloved media coming this E3, the gaming giant is sure to attract attention on the PSP, meanwhile, in the context of a larger effort to revitalize the mobile platform. The PSP has a strong weekly performance thanks to franchises Japan as Monster Hunter, but overall sales fell, as evidenced year after year decline reported for fiscal 2009.

The console giant now grappling with how to reengage the PSP with the public. Sony hopes to address what he sees as a consumer market that is changing hands. Although software piracy PSP UMD has a role to play in cushioning the statements “premium, full value product”, Sony Computer Entertainment UK sales director Mark Howsen concedes that consumer attitudes have also adjusted in a direction which doesn’t necessarily favor higher priced handheld titles:

“To reinvent the whole PSP model we need to look at handheld in a very different way, in the context in which consumers are now viewing it.
We’re trying to reengage consumers with PSP, though that’s not just a challenge for us – it’s a challenge for the whole handheld sector. We are at the point of a major shift in the way that consumers are engaging with the current players in that market.

Sony’s PSPGo appears to be one step in the direction of locking in these “current players”. The new version of the handheld avoid UMD seen in older PSP models for flash storage, namely PSPgo was designed as for digital download titles. The idea was to attract an audience of casual gamers love rather than buying a software UMD in stores.
